CCPC’s Grounds and Property Manager, Kevin Solomon, is excitedly working to construct a new greenhouse on our campus. Paired with our therapeutic community garden, the greenhouse will allow CCPC youth to learn more about growing and harvesting different types of plants, and will give them opportunity to sell the fruits of their labor to the community. Future plans for the greenhouse include adding solar power and  hydroponic capabilities.

The funding for the initial construction of the greenhouse was provided through a generous grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation’s Community Grant Program, courtesy of the Turner Road Wal-Mart store in Salem.

We’re excited to offer this opportunity to provide our kids with valuable life skills in conjunction with our new farm to market  program coming soon!

To celebrate the opening of the greenhouse, there will be a ribbon cutting event on Thursday, May 25 from 4-6 PM. Come see the new greenhouse, tour the garden, share a light dinner, and participate in activities like disc golf and spoon stamping.

The event will happen rain or shine, with the following flexible schedule being planned:

  • 4:00-4:15 – Guests begin to arrive
  • 4:15-4:30 – Ribbon cutting ceremony
  • 4:30-5:00 – Food served
  • 5:00-6:00 – Activities
