Thanks to the hard work of CCPC’s staff, youth, and volunteers, we have several recent developments worth reporting.

Herb Spiral Seating Area

The area just west of the garden was transformed into this pleasant sitting space, with picnic tables surrounding an herb spiral. Freshman students from Corban University helped to put this area together, along with CCPC’s maintenance staff. It will provide a nice place for families to gather, and for staff to work with youth.

CCPC’s community garden is one of many local gardens that partner with Marion-Polk Foodshare. Every year we donate many pounds of produce that will be used to help feed the hungry in our community. The above picture shows the 76 pounds (!) of grapes that we were able to donate last month.

Morning Visitors

Occasionally we are blessed with local wildlife enjoying the CCPC property (which is also why we recently needed to construct a deer fence around the garden!). Here is a picture of one such visitor, snapped by one of our dedicated Project 180 staff members during an early morning shift.

If you haven’t been out to visit CCPC in a while, we would recommend doing so. The grounds are always changing, and we as an agency are always growing, looking for the best ways in which we can serve youth and families.
